The year started off sadly with the death of my mentor and family friend Bruce Head. I was given the honor from his family to come and speak when the Winnipeg Art Gallery held his Memorial. During that time I spent many hours in his studio pouring over hundreds of beautiful incomplete compositions, and sorting through countless tools and treasures. I was in awe of his work, but he fueled me to forge ahead.
I created my first large canvas as I started to move toward bigger commercial pieces. 2010 even brought about my first commission ‘Throwin’ Paint’. The dots continued to become more of a signature in my work and I was soon coined the ‘Dot Lady’. I was building my own tools and experimenting with new techniques. I moved away from my limited palette and adventured into new territory even trying out a couple of ‘abstracted landscapes’.
