Pushing the Jazzercise

Posted Monday, May 10th, 2010

I’m so proud of myself.  I’ve been teaching Jazzercise non-stop on the weekdays for the last two weeks.  Last Thursday and Friday I actually taught two classes each day!  I was not sure if my body would hold out, but I feel like I’ve come through with flying colours.  I am teaching every day this week also, but it’s just not as heavy duty as I’ve been going.

I’m amazed at what my body can go through.  Of course I did relax a bit this weekend (except for decluttering, and some painting).  All in all, the sun is shinning today, and I feel great after teaching a class this morning.

Did I tell you that I LOVE Jazzercise!!

I found this article in Woman’s Day that mentions Jazzercise.  If you haven’t tried it, you should at least once.  Bring a friend!

Walking in the Garden

Posted Friday, April 16th, 2010

For a couple of weeks I’ve been spying little bits of green showing up in my garden…mostly of course weeds, but little gifts coming out of the earth.  Today I took the time to look a bit closer, and was so excited as I did my spring walk in the garden.

So it’s official.  Spring is here in Calgary, and my favorite of the day???

Getting into Jazzercise

Posted Saturday, April 10th, 2010

Tonight I came home from a Jazzercise Regional Meeting and I started to reflect on my Jazzercise “history”.  It almost seems like strange territory for me that I’ve embraced this venture of becoming a Jazzercise instructor so quickly.  Well, maybe not so quickly.  I started Jazzercise many years ago, and really liked this dance-based workout.  For years I would attend different classes, and then I would move, or become lazy and stop going.  I would go to classes with friends or family, and it was always easier to talk ourselves out of going rather than talking ourselves into going.

But I always came back.  I would try other workouts or programs, but mostly would find them boring, and easy to pass by.  Heck, the couch looked comfy!  But last year I started again, and realized how much I truly loved it.  This time I didn’t rely on a buddy to get me there, it was all me.  I tried different Jazzercise classes around me, and started to really get into it.

Then it happened.  Several of the instructors suggested that I had the moves and should consider teaching.  At first I just thought it was a joke, but then I started thinking about it.  There was a real need for Subs here in Calgary, so maybe this is something I should give a try…at the very least I could see if I had what it takes.  I had nothing to lose, so I started training.

Before long I became a certified Jazzercise Instructor.  Now what?  I didn’t intend this to become a main focus in my life, but it sure has.  I have come to realize that I actually have a real passion for Jazzercise. So much so, that I want everyone to share in my passion. I mean if money was no issue, and I had all I needed; I’d be running around the world and opening Jazzercise Centres wherever I could.  I love it that much.

I understand that it’s not for everyone…but I really think that it’s worth a try. I’m just that passionate about it! I get excited when I learn new routines and get to show them to my students.  I love that my class is growing…slowly, but we are really having fun.  I love the music, I love the dance, and I love performing and out of nowhere, I have found I love the camaraderie.  Jazzercise is great, but as my class continues to grow I have found some new friends and I’ve found a new motivation to keep going, my students.

Okay, I’m addicted.  I just love putting together blogs.  It’s a kind of fun and easy thing for me to do.  So I have a blog about my art, a blog about the annual Big Friggin Zucchini Contest.  I have pages about origami.  This page is about me.  Well maybe not about me, but a way for me to express myself, my opinions, and share ideas.  Yes, there will be some art stuff (of course), there will be Jazzersize things (a passion of mine), and there will be lots of random prattlings from me.

So whether or not you read this, or even care, who knows.  I at least I get the ideas out of my head…just gives me more room for other things to be creative with.  If you want automatic updates on what I post here, just subscribe to the site and I will try to keep you entertained.            Register by clicking here!
